🇩🇪 Die Zollfeste Finstermünz hat so einiges zu erzählen:
Genau hier überquerten ab dem 1. Jahrhundert die Römer entlang der Via Claudia Augusta die Alpen, hier war vom 9. bis 11. Jahrhundert die Gerichtstätte der Region, hier wurden ab 1300 Zölle erhoben, es war ab 1472 die Grenzbefestigung und ab 1499 Bollwerk im Schwabenkrieg; 1779 war es Gasthaus und Brauerei und 1799 wurden hier über 300 Gefangene in den Napoleonischen Kriegen gemacht.
Erst 1868 wurde durch einen Staatsvertrag mit der Schweiz endgültig die Zugehörigkeit zu Österreich festgelegt, bis dahin war die Grenzsituation also unklar und die vielen Streitigkeiten an diesem Ort vorprogrammiert.
Zur gleichen Zeit verlor es allerdings auf Grund der neuen Straße oberhalb des Tals auch an Bedeutung.

It was here that the Romans crossed the Alps along the Via Claudia Augusta from the 1st century onwards; it was the region's court site from the 9th to the 11th century; customs duties were levied here from 1300 onwards; it was the border fortification from 1472 onwards and a bulwark in the Swabian War from 1499 onwards; in 1779 it was an inn and brewery and in 1799 over 300 prisoners were taken here in the Napoleonic Wars.
It was not until 1868 that a state treaty with Switzerland finally established its affiliation with Austria, so until then the border situation was unclear and the many disputes in this place were pre-programmed. At the same time, however, it also lost importance due to the new road above the valley.
