Zons 🇩🇪 // 05-2024
🇩🇪 Als Ruprecht von der Pfalz - der Kölner Erzbischof - im Streit um die Erhebung einer Kopf- und Herdsteuer das an das Domkapitel verpfändete Zons einnehmen ließ, brach der bereits schwelende Konflikt 1473 offen aus: die Kölner Stiftsfehde. Eins führte zum Anderen, Neuss wurde belagert, Karl der Kühnen von Burgund und schließlich des Heiligen Römischen Reiches mischten sich mit ein, so dass die Angelegenheit zeitweise eine europäische Dimension annahm.
In diesen Zeiten fand er statt: der Sturm auf Zons.
Jedes Jahr im Mai finden sich über 300 Reenactor bei der historischen Altstadt von Zons ein, sammeln sich im Heerlager, ziehen durch die Stadt durch die Stände und Märkte - und stellen den
Sturm auf die historische Stadtmauer nach.
Dieses Jahr besuchte ich, Evelien, die Veranstaltung krankheitsbedingt alleine. Trotzdem war es schön zu erleben wie die Stadt in die Geschichte zurückgereist ist, alte und neue Bekannte zu treffen, die Momente auf Bildern festzuhalten und die beiden Hauptmänner auf ihren Steckenpferden, sowie das Feldweib auf ihrer nächtlichen Lagerrunde zu begleiten.
🇬🇧 When Ruprecht von der Pfalz - the Archbishop of Cologne - had Zons, which had been pledged to the cathedral chapter, seized in a dispute over the levying of a poll and hearth tax, the already smouldering conflict erupted openly in 1473: the Cologne Diocesan Feud. One thing led to another, Neuss was besieged, Charles the Bold of Burgundy and finally the Holy Roman Empire got involved, so that the matter took on a European dimension at times.
It was during these times that the storming of Zons took place.
Every year in May, over 300 re-enactors gather in the historic old town of Zons, assemble in the army camp, parade through the town through the stalls and markets - and re-enact the storming of the historic town wall.
This year I, Evelien, attended the event alone due to illness. Nevertheless, it was nice to experience how the town has traveled back into history, to meet old and new friends, to capture the moments in pictures and to accompany the two captains on their hobby horses, as the "Feldweib" on their nightly camp round.
